Community Programs Manager

Application due by September 10th

Location: Knoxville, TN · Hours: 35/week · Compensation: $25/hour (~$45,500 annually), paid time off, and a supportive, flexible team environment.

About Us
Little Chefs, Big Change is a Knoxville-based nonprofit that teaches fun, hands-on cooking classes where kids build confidence, explore new foods, and make meals using affordable, healthy ingredients. We believe in the power of kids to steer their family’s food choices and that kids can cook, choose healthy options, and enjoy a wide-variety of foods if they have early exposure.

The Role

We’re looking for a Community Programs Manager to help lead and grow our after-school and summer cooking programs. This role blends program coordination, teaching, and community engagement with nonprofit development. Program months are typically September–November, February–May, and June–July. During off-seasons, the focus shifts to planning, fundraising support, and resource development.

What You’ll Do:

  • Plan and coordinate after-school and summer cooking classes

  • Teach one to two classes per week during peak program season and substitute when necessary

  • Assist in training new cooking instructors.

  • Build partnerships with schools, families, and community organizations

  • Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and support volunteers

  • Assist with fundraising and donor engagement to grow LCBC’s impact

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Education, Community Development, or related field; or equivalent professional experience.

  • 2+ years of program management experience, particularly within education, community-based programming, or nonprofit organizations.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) and project management tools (we use Trello).

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and community stakeholders.

  • Experience in volunteer management and team leadership.

  • Passion for promoting healthy eating and familiarity with plant-based cooking and nutrition principles.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $25/hour for 35 hours per week (~$45,500 annually)

  • Paid time off that supports balance: 2 weeks vacation, 5 sick days, and 11 holidays

  • Flexible unpaid leave available when life calls for extra time away

  • A supportive team environment with opportunities to grow, lead, and make a lasting impact in our community

✨ If you’re excited about food, health, and kids—and you’re ready to help shape a growing nonprofit—we’d love to hear from you!
